A single point of support around the clock. GearHead Technical Support makes it easy to fix issues on not just your NETGEAR purchase but for your entire home network. The service includes support for the following: NETGEAR and non-NETGEAR network devices. Netgear Genie won't quit on Mac OS X Unlike some people here, I had no trouble downbloading and installing Netgear Genie on my Mac system, first on an old iMac running OS X v10.6.8 and now on my new iMac running 10.11.2. Unfortunately the program's interface is terribly buggy. The worst problem is that once started, it refuses to Quit. Network interface setup (Mac OS X 10.4.11) After your computer restarts, insert your modem. Go to Finder Applications System Preferences and select Network. When the message New Ports Detected appears, click OK.
I also posted this on the Netgear discussion forums as well as Netgear email support. The only responses I got were: 'Unfortunately we don't support MAC VPN client. We have no way of knowing how to set it up.' They then recommended a couple of 3rd party VPN clients, IPSecuritas, and eqinux VPNTracker. I would really rather use the Mac OS X built-in VPN client. My biggest concern with VPN configurations is that there doesn't seem to be a standardized vocabulary for the configurations. It is not at all clear how the field values in the Mac VPN client configuration in InternetConnect.app correspond to those in the Netgear FVS338 VPN configuration. With Netgear saying 'we know nothing about Macs', I'm relying on someone at Apple or in the Mac community to help me out on this one.
